With my Professional Musicianship degree from the British and Irish Modern Music Institute, you can be sure that you're learning from someone who knows what they're talking about. I regularly play concerts across the UK, from small bars like Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London to festivals like All Points East, End of the Road, and SXSW in Texas. My real passion, however, is teaching.

By learning from someone who is active in the music industry, you're learning what really works. You'll learn how to play the right way, with all the guesswork removed.

What most people find when they start taking lessons is that guitar playing is much easier than they thought. Once you know the right way - the way professional musicians do things - you can learn how to play anything. It's not about putting in years of practice, it's about learning the easiest way to accomplish your goals. Sometimes, all it takes is a simple change in hand position, or a fresh perspective on music theory, and suddenly everything makes sense.

I teach Monday to Friday from 10am to 9pm from my home in Telford. Lessons are priced at £16 per half-hour, or £32 per hour.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I don't have a guitar?
Don't worry! I can provide everything you'll need for your lessons - including a guitar, an amplifier (if you're learning electric guitar), picks, and so on.

How much are lessons after the first free session?
Lessons are £16 for half an hour, or £32 for a full hour lesson. I'd recommend the half-hour lessons for children, as an hour can be a bit much for them all in one. If you're a more advanced player, or if you prefer to have more time in-lesson to get your head around things, then the one-hour sessions would be ideal. I am flexible with this, too, so feel free to try out both options and see what suits you best.

Are the lessons 1-on-1, or in groups?
Lessons are taught 1-on-1 to make sure you can get the best results in the shortest time frame. We'll focus on exactly what you want to learn, so that you can learn to play in a way that suits you. Group lessons can be arranged upon request.

Do I have to book multiple lessons in advance?
Nope! You don't need to pay in advance. You just pay for each lesson when you take it - this way, if you need to miss a lesson for any reason then you aren't missing out on something you've paid for.

Do you teach advanced players?
Absolutely! I've taught everyone from complete beginners to people who've been playing guitar since the 1970's. Whatever your level, if you'd like to achieve your guitar goals then I can help.

What kinds of music can I learn?
Everything from pop, to rock, to blues, to metal, to funk, to flamenco, to jazz... anything! I'm adept in all musical styles so you can learn the music you want, not what someone else has told you to learn. If you want to play songs by your favourite band, or learn to play like your guitar hero, book a free session now!

Do I have to learn on an acoustic first?
Not at all - this is a BIG myth in the guitar world. You can start learning on an electric guitar or an acoustic - whichever you prefer.
What if I'm a complete beginner?
That's no problem at all - you'll be playing part of a song by the end of the very first lesson! Anyone can learn guitar if they have a good teacher, and that includes you.

But what if I don't have any talent?
You don't need natural talent to play guitar at all! All you need are some fingers (which I'm assuming you have) and a good teacher. What are you waiting for?

What if I can't read music?
You don't need to read music to play guitar. If you want to learn, though, then I can teach you. Once you've learned the basics, reading music is a skill that is very easy to master.

Can I still learn guitar even if I've never played an instrument before?
Yep! Guitar is an easy instrument if you learn it correctly, so you don't need any previous musical skills.

What happens if I miss a lesson?
I'm flexible with lesson times so it's no problem at all! Just let me know beforehand and we'll reschedule it for another time. If you don't notify me before the lesson, however, then I will have to charge you for the lesson for putting that time aside for you.

Where do lessons take place?
I teach from my studio in my home in Priorslee, Telford. I have all the equipment you'll need set up ready for every lesson, which saves you time and lets us get on with the fun bit - playing!

How long do lessons last?
You can have either 30 minute or 60 minute lessons! I can also teach longer sessions if you'd prefer - contact me with the "Book Now" button and we'll discuss what you'd like to do. Some people like to do "masterclasses" where we spend a few hours guiding you through how to master the instrument - if that's something you'd like, just let me know.

Do you teach children?
Yes - I have an enhanced DBS check which means I am fully cleared to work with children. If your child is an aspiring rocker who wants to play guitar like their heroes, bring them along for a free taster lesson! (Minimum age is 8+)
